Merton CIL are delighted to announce that two hustings events have been organised in partnership with Focus-4-1 and Merton Mencap. Local Disabled people, friends, family and supporters can come along and quiz some of the candidates hoping for your vote!

Our first event will be on 23 May for Mitcham and Morden residents. We invited the following candidates, who have all said they will attend: Alicia Kearns (Conservative), Claire Mathys (Liberal Democrat), Siobhain McDonagh (Labour).

Our second event will be on 25 May for Wimbledon residents. We invited candidates from the three main parties, and the following candidates have said they will attend: Carl Quilliam (Liberal Democrat), Imran Uddin (Labour). The Conservative candidate Stephen Hammond has said that he will not attend the event.

With just 3 weeks left before the General Election on 8th June 2017, we have been working hard to ensure that parliamentary candidates listen to Disabled people and consider the many issues that currently impact on Deaf and Disabled people’s lives. Our votes matter and we want to ensure that people can make informed decisions about how to vote and who to vote for.

Visit our website to find out more about the events and register to come along. We will have BSL interpreters available at both events. http://www.mertoncil.org.uk/getting-involved/hustings-general-election-20/
