Imagine having to cancel an outing, miss a family event, or postpone a medical appointment because the assistance that you need to board or disembark from a train does not materialise. Imagine your time and energy being wasted in this way. Imagine the anxiety, frustration and sadness that this causes.
Unfortunately, this is the experience that some of our Access Champions have had with Southern Railway. Hence, they have requested a meeting to better understand the railway operator’s approach to accessibility, and to offer insights and ideas as to how services can be improved.
It is worth noting that South Western Railway’s Senior Accessibility and Inclusion Manager kindly took the time to meet the Access Champions about this time last year, and has stayed in contact, asking for views on various developments. We hope that Southern Railway will be as helpful.
