Merton CIL’s Happy Tenth Birthday Year!
In 2018, Merton Centre for Independent Living (Merton CIL), is celebrating its 10th year of supporting local Deaf and Disabled People in Merton. And, there is now cause for another celebration as Merton CIL is a finalist in the Best Service Excellence category at The Merton’s Best Business Awards 2018.
CEO Lyla Adwan-Kamara said "We've been meaning to enter the Merton Best Business Awards for a few years but we've always worried about whether we were good enough. It was such a boost to our confidence to be selected as a finalist in the Best Service Excellence category, it is a real testament to the hard work of our amazing team."
The Best Service Excellence category aims to honour organisations who provide a superlative service. The category could not be more fitting because Merton CIL is a user-led organisation which means that most of the trustees, staff, volunteers and all of the service users are Deaf and Disabled People. The awards take places on 22nd September 2018 and everyone at Merton CIL has their fingers crossed, and there are lots of other great organisations and businesses in the same category. The success doesn’t stop there! Merton CIL’s volunteer team were awarded silver in the Best Volunteer Team in Merton category at The Merton Partnership Awards in June. It is great that they were recognised for all of their hard work and support which has helped Merton CIL be a success over the years.
